More about this product

Personalise a hooded baby towel with name embroidery

After bath time, the square towel can be wrapped around the baby while the corner hood covers the head. The soft velour face gives the towel its smooth, plush finish, while the reverse has the familiar looped texture of high-quality cotton terry.

Use the online customiser to embroider the hooded baby towel with a name, birth date, short message or motif. You choose the colour, lettering, thread and design. Before production, an experienced embroidery specialist checks your artwork manually for legibility, feasibility and a clean stitched result.

Substantial 450 g/m² cotton

The fabric has noticeably more substance than a lightweight baby towel without feeling unnecessarily heavy when wrapped around the baby.

Velour face and terry reverse

The smooth velour side creates a neat finish, while the reverse retains the characteristic loops of cotton terry.

Corner hood attached to the towel

The hood is integrated into one corner, allowing the baby to be placed on the towel and wrapped from several sides after bathing.

Personalised from one piece

Design a single hooded baby towel or order several towels with different names in the same basket.

Personalised baby towel with an embroidered name

A name turns the hooded bath towel into an easily identifiable baby item and a personal gift. A first name on its own often creates the clearest design. If you would like to include more detail, it can be combined with initials, a date of birth or a small motif.

The design should suit the available area and the proportions of the towel. Clear lettering, sufficient spacing and one recognisable focal point generally work better than several small elements placed closely together.

Hooded baby towel with a name

A clearly embroidered first name feels personal, remains visually calm and can be positioned neatly on the towel.

Name and date of birth

The birth date can be added as a smaller second line, turning the towel into a lasting personal keepsake.

Initials or a short message

Initials provide subtle personalisation. A brief message works well when the towel is intended as a birth, christening or baby shower gift.

Name with a suitable motif

A simple motif can complement the personalisation without competing with the child’s name.

How much wording fits on a hooded baby towel?

A name or one concise line normally provides the best legibility. Longer names require a smaller letter size. Additional information works best when it is visually secondary rather than displayed at the same size as the name.

From our embroidery experience: The largest possible design is not automatically the best-looking one. Leaving clear space around the name and motif usually gives the embroidery a calmer, more considered appearance.

Design your hooded baby towel in the online customiser

Choose the towel colour first, then add your name, wording or motif. The customiser allows you to check the visible arrangement and position the design within the designated area.

  1. Choose the towel colour
Select White, Lime, Mint, Magenta, Light Pink, Light Blue or Turquoise.
  2. Enter a name or message
Add the required name, initials, date or short personal wording.
  3. Coordinate the motif and thread colours
Choose a design that remains clearly visible against the selected towel colour and suits the occasion.
  4. Check the preview
Review the spelling, size, position and overall appearance before adding the configured towel to your basket.

How your embroidery design is applied to the baby towel

Your name, wording or motif is aligned within the designated design area. Before production, an experienced embroidery specialist checks the placement and makes small technical adjustments where required for a clean stitched finish.

Our principle: “What you see in the embroidery design is what you receive.”

Upload your own motif or logo for embroidery

As well as text, you can use your own image or vector artwork. The logo upload accepts AI, EPS, SVG and good-quality JPG and PNG images. Your upload is initially used to display the intended design.

The online image is a preview

The preview shows the intended size, position and appearance on the towel. It is not a finished machine embroidery file and is not transferred automatically to the embroidery machine.

Every motif is digitised manually

Our specialists create a suitable stitch programme from your artwork. Stitch types, directions, underlay, density and colour sequence are prepared to suit the motif, its size and the terry fabric.

Terry fabric requires the right stitch structure

The textile surface can partially obscure very fine contours. The underlay, stitch density and spacing are therefore planned so that letters and motifs remain clearly recognisable after embroidery.

Before embroidery: Every design created in the customiser is reviewed manually by an experienced embroidery specialist for feasibility, legibility and possible improvements. If a visible adjustment is required, we will clarify the proposed change with you before production.

Order several hooded baby towels with different names

If you would like to order several hooded baby towels with different names, create each towel separately. Add the first completed design to your basket, return to the customiser and prepare the next version. This keeps every colour, name, motif and quantity clearly assigned.

  1. Design the first hooded towel
Choose the towel colour and add the required name, wording or date of birth.
  2. Add the design to your basket
Check the spelling and save the fully configured baby towel as a separate basket item.
  3. Create the next name
Return to the product and adjust the personalisation for the next child.
  4. Check the complete order
Repeat the process until every colour, name, motif and quantity is included in your basket.

One shared motif with different names

For siblings, twins or a group, you can combine the same motif with individual names. Each version is configured separately so that production can clearly identify which design belongs on each towel.

Create, review and save an embroidery file for repeat orders

An image file does not contain the control information required by an embroidery machine. Manual digitising determines which stitch types, directions and spacing are used to reproduce the motif on the baby towel. This preparation is particularly important on textile surfaces where contours and lettering need enough structure to remain clear.

Have an existing machine embroidery file reviewed

To maintain our quality standards, we cannot accept an existing embroidery file without checking it first. You can send the file to us by email for technical review. As its size, stitch structure and material suitability must be assessed individually, the process may take several days. We will send the result to you by email.

If you already have an account with stickerei.com and the file passes our review, we can store the approved version there for future orders.

Can the same embroidery file be used on other products?

That depends on the motif size, embroidery position and material. A file created for a terry baby towel cannot automatically be transferred unchanged to a smooth or stretch fabric. A different surface may require adjusted underlay, stitch density or detail strength.

Significant changes in embroidery size are also technically limited. If a motif is required at a substantially larger or smaller size, the stitch programme often needs to be rebuilt or adapted.

Specialist embroidery since 1998 – now in the second generation

We have worked as an embroidery specialist since 1998 and now continue our expertise in the second generation. Every order passes through several checks, from the digital design to the finished embroidery.

Several decoration locations

Depending on order volume, we produce at several locations so that both individual items and larger orders can be handled without unnecessary delays.

Manual review by an embroidery specialist

Every design created in the customiser is checked for feasibility, legibility and possible improvements before production.

Multi-stage quality control

We check the order details, design assignment and finished embroidery to identify input or production errors as early as possible.

Personal support

If you have questions or special requirements for your embroidery order, you can contact your adviser or the relevant specialist department.

Personalised hooded baby towel as a newborn gift

A baby towel with a name combines a useful bath-time item with a personal keepsake. It can be used straight away, while the embroidery makes it clearly identifiable as belonging to the child.

Personalised newborn gift

An embroidered first name turns the hooded towel into an individual welcome gift for the newest member of the family.

Hooded towel as a christening gift

A name, initials or christening date creates a simple design with a clear connection to the occasion.

Baby shower gift

If the name has already been chosen, the baby bath towel can be personalised before the child arrives.

Personalised first birthday gift

A name, small number or concise birthday motif turns the towel into an individual gift for the child’s next stage.

450 g/m² hooded baby towel made from combed cotton

The hooded towel is made entirely from combed cotton. During combing, many shorter and less regular fibres are removed. This produces a more even yarn that is well suited to both a smooth velour face and dense cotton terry.

Velour surface on the front

To create velour, the loops on one side are cut. This gives the towel a smoother surface with a soft finish and an even appearance.

Cotton terry on the reverse

The reverse retains the characteristic looped structure of terry fabric. It provides the familiar textured surface intended for contact while drying.

Substantial 450 g/m² fabric

The fabric weight describes the material weight per square metre rather than the total weight of the finished towel. At 450 g/m², the towel has a substantial, reassuring feel while remaining practical for wrapping around a baby.

Square 75 × 75 cm format

The square shape makes wrapping straightforward after bath time. The hood is positioned in one corner, leaving the remaining sides free to fold around the body.

A hooded baby towel is not a baby poncho

This product is a square baby bath towel with a corner hood. It has no sleeves or opening to pull over the head and should therefore not be described as a baby poncho.

Seven colours for names, motifs and personalised gifts

The colour range extends from neutral White to stronger shades such as Magenta and Turquoise. The most suitable thread colour depends on whether you want the embroidery to stand out clearly or create a more understated effect.

Colour choices and their visual effect on the personalised hooded baby towel
Towel colourAppearanceSuitable design approach
WhiteNeutral and clearA wide range of thread colours and multicoloured motifs
LimeLight and livelyDark lettering and motifs with defined outlines
MintCalm and freshMuted or contrasting thread colours
MagentaStrong and expressiveLight names and simple motifs
Light PinkSoft and friendlyDarker pink, grey or berry-coloured threads
Light BlueLight and classicNavy, grey or white embroidery
TurquoiseFresh and distinctiveLight or deep blue thread colours

Choose a thread colour with sufficient contrast

Very pale thread on White or dark thread on Magenta may lose definition if there is too little contrast. As well as choosing a favourite colour, check that the name remains clearly separated from the towel in the preview.

How to care for a hooded baby towel washable at 60°C

The towel is machine washable at up to 60°C and may be tumble dried at low temperature. These care properties are practical for a baby bath towel used regularly. The instructions on the sewn-in care label remain definitive.

Care instructions for the cotton and embroidery

  • machine wash at a maximum of 60°C with similar colours
  • wash separately or with coordinating colours before first use
  • avoid aggressive bleaching products
  • tumble dry at low temperature
  • do not apply a hot iron directly to the embroidery
  • follow the instructions on the sewn-in care label

Our care tip: Wash dark and vibrant shades separately from pale textiles. If the towel needs ironing, work from the reverse and avoid pressing directly onto the embroidered design.

Which names and motifs work well on a hooded baby towel?

The right design depends on the length of the name, the chosen lettering and any additional elements. Clear outlines and sufficiently large letters remain easier to read on the textile surface than very fine lines or closely packed details.

What we check before embroidery

  • Will the name remain legible at the selected size?
  • Do the lettering, motif and additional wording work together?
  • Are fine lines and small spaces sufficiently defined?
  • Does the embroidery have enough clearance from edges and seams?
  • Is the stitch structure suitable for velour and terry fabric?
Suitability of different designs for the hooded baby towel
DesignSuitabilityWhat matters
First nameVery well suitedClear lettering and balanced proportions
Name and date of birthEasy to combineUse the date as a smaller second line
Initials or monogramWell suited to subtle personalisationOpen letterforms and clear colour contrast
Name with a small motifWell suitedOne clear focal motif rather than several small elements
Long personal messageRequires individual reviewShorten the wording or divide it into clearly structured lines
Detailed image artworkTechnical review requiredFine elements may need to be simplified or strengthened

Practical tip: If the name, date and motif are used together, one element should remain the clear focal point. The name usually works best as the main feature, with the date and motif added at a smaller scale.
